Ik ontdekte de prachtige traditie van de Sean-Nòs Singing, een zang gebracht zonder begeleiding in de gemeenschap. Die traditie bestaat nog altijd aan de West-kust van Ierland. Ik ontdekte ook het grote belang van hun traditionele muziek voor de gemeenschap. Maar die muziek hoeft niet altijd dezelfde of een imitatie te zijn, maar :
“Traditional music implies contiuity, the creation of new music within an established framework. That framework is musical language (…) it is learned by listening, by imitation, by engaging in social discourse.” (Ciaran Carson, Irich Traditional Music).
We zijn verzeild geraakt in moeilijke chaotische tijden, zou muziek kunnen bijdragen in een samenkomen, in kleine gemeenschap, in een samen beleven door middel van muziek ?
Een andere muzikale beleving: dichterbij, intiem, tastbaar.

NATASHIA KELLY (voc) & YANNICK PEETERS (dbbass) duiken in de muzikale West-Ierse roots en maken een tocht vanuit die rijke, mysterieuze melodieën geïnspireerd door hun jazz achtergrond tot in het onbekende van de improvisatie.
"..... Improviseren is hunkeren naar het onbekende en het spontane. Het is een middel, een doel, en misschien zelfs een manier van in het leven staan. Improvisatie vergt durf, kunde en bovenal vertrouwen. Geen patserige beslistheid, maar de bereidheid om risico’s te nemen en je open te stellen naar je partner. Het is bovendien een manier om de rijkdom onder het oppervlak te ontsluiten.(...) Je hoort elke keer andere dingen, wordt verrast door de rijkheid aan nuances en de variatie in de klankkleuren. En ook: hoe dichter je komt, en hoe aandachtiger je luistert, hoe rijker de schakeringen worden."

"....Improvising is longing for the unknown and the spontaneous.
Improvising requires courage, skill and above all confidence. No bold decision, but willingness to take risks and to open up to the other. And it is a way to unlock the richness below the surface. perhaps this is what defines the music of Kelly: you hear different things every time, you are surprised by the richness of nuances and the variation in the timbres.
